Los Angeles homeowners have always been early adopters of design trends, and 2025 is no exception. Here are the five tile trends we're installing most frequently across the city.
1. Oversized Porcelain Slabs
Gone are the days of small 12×12 tiles everywhere. Large-format porcelain slabs (24×48 inches and bigger) create a seamless, luxurious look with minimal grout lines. They're especially popular in master bathrooms and open-plan kitchens.
2. Handmade Terracotta
The warm, earthy aesthetic of handmade terracotta tile is everywhere in LA right now — and it makes sense given our Mediterranean climate. These tiles have natural variation in color and texture that gives spaces a unique, artisanal character.
3. Zellige and Moroccan-Inspired Tiles
Zellige tiles (hand-cut, glazed Moroccan tiles) bring incredible depth and shimmer to backsplashes and feature walls. Their irregular surfaces catch light in a way that machine-made tiles simply can't replicate.
4. Fluted and Textured Tiles
Fluted (ribbed) tiles add three-dimensional interest to bathroom walls and kitchen backsplashes. They work beautifully in monochromatic schemes — all white or all sage green — where the texture itself becomes the design statement.
5. Dark and Moody Palettes
Deep charcoal, navy, forest green, and even black tiles are gaining serious ground in LA bathrooms. When paired with brass or brushed gold fixtures, the result is dramatic and sophisticated.
